Glue or tape on the hinge test nearly ruined my build

I was mocking up a foldable lamp arm last week and had to pick between hot glue and double sided tape for the hinge joint. Went with glue because I thought it'd hold stronger, but it snapped after 3 folds and wrecked the cardboard. Tape would have let me adjust the tension as I went. Anyone else find tape beats glue for moving parts in prototypes?

Glue on a hinge? That's wild, man, I would've bet on tape for sure.

Haha you saying "tape" reminded me of something I actually read on a DIY blog last week. They were saying Gorilla Glue is basically the only thing that holds up on hinges because tape just peels off over time with all the motion. I guess the glue seeps into the metal grain or something? Never really thought about it until I saw them testing different adhesives side by side. The tape they tried just gave up after like 20 swings, but the glue held strong. Wild stuff honestly, makes me want to try it on my squeaky cabinet door.
