Cut corners on a kitchen island mockup. Regretted it.

I was making a cardboard prototype for a new kitchen island. Had to choose between a solid single piece of corrugated or taping two smaller ones together. Picked the taped version to save time. Thing buckled under a coffee mug after 20 minutes. Should have just cut the big piece from the start. Anyone else cheap out on a prototype and pay for it later?

20 minutes? That's rough man. A coffee mug isn't even that heavy. I'm honestly surprised the tape let go that fast. Did you at least use packing tape or just scotch tape?

Ugh, that exact thing happened to me with a succulent pot! I finally gave up on tape and just used a couple of thick rubber bands wrapped around the whole thing. It's ugly but it actually held for months.
