Cardboard saved my drawer organizer build before I touched real wood

Used to just buy organizers blind and guess if they fit my weird kitchen drawer, wasted maybe $40 total on stuff that sat loose. Three weekends ago I taped some Amazon boxes into the exact shape I wanted, slid the drawer shut, and found the high side hit the pipe. Took 20 minutes to re-cut the cardboard and now I know the real build will fit first try. Anyone else mock up furniture pieces in cardboard before committing to the actual material?
