Cardboard mockup changed my mind about drawer slides

I was dead set on soft-close slides for the nightstand until I taped a piece of cardboard into the frame and pulled it 40 times. The friction from raw cardboard felt way closer to the real thing than I expected, and now I'm leaning toward standard side-mounts instead. Anyone else have a mockup that flipped a hardware choice for them?

Did the cardboard test on my cabinet handles... totally switched me to pulls.
