Can we talk about how everyone builds their cardboard prototypes way too detailed at first?
I spent 3 hours cutting perfect little windows and curves on a mockup for a lamp last month and then realized the whole shape was wrong, now I just use tape and rough blocks until I know the size works, has anyone else had to learn that the hard way?
Oh man, I totally feel you on that. I did the same thing with a chair mockup once, cut out all these little details and spent hours on it, then sat in it and it collapsed because the proportions were off. Now I just use crumpled paper and packing tape to get the basic shape down first, it saves so much frustration. It's like you have to force yourself to be ugly and messy at the start or you'll waste all that time on something that doesn't even work.
