Why does nobody warn you that washi tape can wreck a whole month of spreads?
Three weeks ago I sat down at my kitchen table in Boise to set up my October spreads and taped in a little photo from a trip. Seemed harmless. Two days later I noticed the tape had started to lift at the corner, so I pressed it down again and went on with my day. A week after that, the page underneath had this weird raised bubble and the ink from my habit tracker was smearing every time I touched it. I peeled the tape back and it took a chunk of paper with it, right through my mood log and my sleep chart. I use a Leuchtturm 1917 and I thought the paper was thick enough for anything, but clearly not with cheap tape. Now I have a hole in the middle of a spread I spent an hour on, and I am trying to figure out if I can hide it with a sticker or if I just start over. Has this happened to anyone else, and what tape actually holds without ripping pages when you pull it up?
Read somewhere that washi tape gets stickier over time and pulls up paper fibers when you finally peel it. Try the Scotch brand removable tape next time, still lifts clean off my pages.
