Picked a monthly log over a weekly spread and it actually worked

I had to choose between setting up a full weekly layout or just using a rolling monthly log for tracking habits. Went with the monthly because I was tired of wasting time on spreads I never filled in. After 3 weeks, I actually stuck with it and saw I was walking my dog 20 out of 21 days. Has anyone else simplified their layout and seen better consistency?

Rolling monthly log sounds like a regular calendar but the whole point is you just write what you did after you did it instead of planning ahead. I tried a full weekly spread once and ended up with half empty boxes that made me feel like a failure. My friend @green.mason runs on a straight up google calendar and that works for them but I need the physical act of checking things off. I have three kids and a rescue dog so if I don't track my walks on paper they just don't happen in my brain. What kind of habits are you tracking besides the dog walks?
