My minimalist layout looked pretty but I kept forgetting appointments

After 8 months of using only a monthly log and a habit tracker, I finally caved and added a weekly spread last week because I missed two dentist visits and a friend's birthday party in one month, and now I'm wondering if anyone else found that going simpler actually made things worse.

Oh man, that's exactly what happened to me... I went full bullet journal minimal last year and missed my own car registration renewal. The ticket cost me way more than the fancy spread would have taken. Sometimes the pretty layouts just don't work for the messy parts of life.

The thing nobody's talking about is that minimal layouts kinda assume your brain already works in a certain way. Like if you're naturally forgetful or juggle a lot of random stuff, having less info on the page actually makes it harder to spot what's coming up. I had this same problem until I realized a monthly log alone just doesn't give me enough visual cues for the week ahead. Did you try adding just a small weekly section with three or four boxes for priorities, or did you go all in on a full spread?
