Just realized my bullet journal is too perfect to actually use

My friend glanced at my weekly spread and said, 'It's beautiful, but it looks like a museum piece you're afraid to touch.' I've been spending over an hour each Sunday making it flawless, and now I avoid writing in it to keep it neat. How do you find a balance between a pretty layout and a functional, lived-in journal?

Too perfect to actually use" is the whole problem right there. It's a notebook, not a painting. If you're avoiding writing in it, it's just a fancy paperweight. Maybe try a really messy test page on purpose, spill some coffee on it, and get over that first scratch. The function is to plan your life, not to make art for Instagram.

Yeah but the coffee thing is a bit much lol. Forcing a mess can feel just as fake as keeping it perfect. The real trick is to just start writing something boring, like a grocery list or the date. Once you break that seal with normal stuff, the pressure's gone. It's about making it a tool, not a trophy or a trash can.
