Digital spreads vs paper, which actually sticks for you?

I tracked every task in Notion for 3 months straight, then switched back to a physical notebook in January. The app gave me better stats and reminders, but I actually reviewed my week more with paper because it was right there on my desk. Anyone else flip-flop between both and land on one side long term?

I saw a study once that said writing things down by hand helps your brain remember them better, something about the physical act of forming letters. That tracked with my own messing around, the paper version stuck in my head more even if the digital one was more organized. I flip flopped for years between apps and notebooks, but lately I've landed on paper for weekly planning and digital only for the stuff that needs reminders. The tactile part of crossing things off is honestly half the satisfaction for me, an app just doesn't give me that same little hit.
