Can we talk about the time I tried to design a perfect monthly spread?

I spent 3 hours last night trying to get the spacing right for my habit tracker and it still looks off, so what's your go-to method for laying out a new spread without it taking forever?

My friend Sarah spent a whole weekend measuring dots for a mood tracker with a ruler. She finally gave up and just drew a simple grid freehand on Monday, said it looked better than her "perfect" plan. Now she uses a basic pencil sketch first before any pens come out. It saves her from getting stuck on tiny details that don't matter in the long run.

Totally get this. My bullet journal used to have these crazy detailed monthly calendars that took forever. What finally worked was doing exactly what @lilyrodriguez said, forgetting the perfect blueprint. Now I just scribble a light pencil box for each day before committing. It looks more alive and takes two minutes. The messy draft makes the final thing actually happen.

That bit about the simple grid looking better than the "perfect" plan is so true. I see this everywhere, like when people over-plan a garden layout and then the wildflowers that just pop up look way nicer. We get stuck on the blueprint and forget the actual thing.
