Tried teaching my partner Terraforming Mars and they just started naming all the corporations after our pets

I mean, we spent 45 minutes just laughing and making up stories instead of playing, which was way better. Anyone else have a game night totally derailed by something silly?

Oh man, the pet corporation thing is amazing. My friend tried to play a simple card game with his kids, and they got so hung up on arguing that the Queen of Hearts looked like their grumpy aunt that they never finished a single round. Just a whole night of comparing royalty to family members. Those unplanned moments are the best part sometimes. What was the best pet corporation name you came up with?

Hah, that's perfect. Your friend's story is exactly what I mean. We get so caught up in making things perfect or following the rules that we miss the weird little jokes that happen along the way. The best name we had was "Executive Treats and Sniffs, LLC." It sounded so serious for a bunch of stuffed animals running a fake bank. It's those silly tangents that you remember, not winning the game.
