PSA: I tried a new way to store my board games and it was a total game changer

I was sick of my Kallax shelves looking messy, so I tried putting all my games in those big plastic bins you get at the hardware store. I thought it would just hide the mess, but after 3 months, I found something weird. My group started playing the same 5 games from the top of the bins over and over, and we totally forgot about the rest. I learned that if you can't see the box, you just won't pick it. Has anyone else found a good way to store a lot of games where you can still see what you have?

Yeah, that line about "if you can't see the box, you just won't pick it" is SO true. I read a whole article about this called "out of sight, out of mind" with home stuff. They said it's a real brain thing. Maybe you could try putting the bins on their sides like drawers, so you can see the box fronts? Or just use the bins for the real clunkers you never play and keep the favorites on open shelves.

Totally agree with @stellarivera, that brain thing is real. Do you think it works the same way with digital stuff like game libraries?

Man that "out of sight, out of mind" thing is totally real even with digital stuff like game libraries. I've got like 200 games on Steam and I swear I only play the same 10 or 15 because those are the ones I see every time I open the app. What worked for me @daniel_lopez was making a few folders on my desktop for the games I actually play and pinning them there. Now I actually remember I own stuff like Hades and Slay the Spire instead of just letting them rot in my library. Idk it sounds dumb but just seeing the icon every day is enough to make me click it.
