My buddy in Austin told me to count turns out loud during Catan, and I finally get why he wins
I brushed it off for a year, but during our game night 3 weeks ago I actually tried it and kept track of every resource card he picked up. He was sitting on 3 ore the entire game and I never noticed, so when he dropped the city I was totally blindsided. Does anyone else track opponents' hands like this, or do you just play your own board and hope for the best?
Watched my uncle do something like this at Thanksgiving last year and it drove me nuts. Every time someone rolled a 7 he would say out loud "oh that's rough" but he was really just watching who had to dump cards. By the end of the night he knew my aunt had been hoarding wheat for like five turns and he blocked her trade every single time. The rest of us were just sitting there building roads to nowhere. I still don't count cards myself because it feels like homework, but I can't argue with the results.
