Just found out the first print run of my favorite game was only 500 copies

I was reading an old interview with the designer on a blog called 'Game History Corner' and it made me realize how lucky I am to own one.

Isn't rarity more about the game itself than how many copies exist?

Totally disagree! Rarity is about supply, not the game's quality. A bad game with few copies is still rare, it just isn't valuable. You're mixing up two different things.
