Focused on winning every game for 10 years, now I just want a fun story to tell after
I used to be the guy who'd read every rulebook twice and calculate every move, but after a 4-hour game of Twilight Imperium in Seattle last Saturday ended in a tie nobody cared about, I'm starting to think the best moments are the ones where everyone's laughing at a dumb mistake, so which do you actually play for, the W or the memory?

Your 4-hour tie sounds like a nightmare honestly. I tracked my win/loss ratio for years and the only memories I kept were the ones where I crushed someone with a dumb combo nobody saw coming. Laughing at mistakes is fine until you realize you wasted a Saturday night on a game that didnt count for anything.
