Why does everyone love that popular budgeting app? I wasted $80 on it and got nothing useful.

I signed up for the yearly plan of that app everyone raves about on here, the one with the fancy charts. Figured $80 was worth it to get my spending under control. After 3 months of fighting with it to categorize my transactions and still getting them wrong, I checked my bank manually and saw I was just as broke. The app gave me fancy looking graphs but zero real insight into where my money actually went. I asked support for a refund and they pointed to their no-return policy. Has anyone else had a tool that looked good but failed at the actual job?

Lmao yeah that app is total garbage. I fell for the same hype and spent like 3 hours adjusting categories only for it to still put my coffee runs under "groceries." Ended up canceling after a month and just went back to my boring spreadsheet that actually works.

Honestly that's the thing with those apps, they overcomplicate something that just needs a simple list and a few calculations. Ngl I still use a notebook and a pen because I got tired of fighting with software that thinks my coffee is a grocery item.
