Update: a cashier in Toledo fixed my self checkout rage in 30 seconds
I used to mash the screen at every self checkout because I thought the machine was just slow and dumb. Then at a Kroger in Toledo a cashier saw me fighting it and said the scale resets after each item, so if you set your bag down too early it throws the whole thing off. She showed me to wait for the green light before bagging anything, and my checkout time went from 4 minutes of beeping to about 40 seconds. Now I actually read the screen instead of stabbing it. Has anyone else had a store worker show them a trick like that, or is it just me who never read the prompts?
