TIL my bank app's 'quick transfer' feature is anything but

Last Friday, I tried to send my roommate $50 for our electric bill. The app has a big button for 'Quick Transfer' right on the home screen. I tapped it, filled everything out, and hit confirm. It took me to a loading screen for 10 seconds, then asked me to verify the transaction... by typing in a code from a text message. That's two extra steps! If I have to leave the app for a text and come back, that's not quick. It feels like they just moved the old slow process behind a new button. Has anyone found a money app that actually makes sending cash fast?

Venmo works without that text code most of the time.

Man, my buddy's "instant" payment got held up for three days last week.

What kind of "instant" was that supposed to be? That's garbage. I've had that happen before too, it's so frustrating when you're counting on the money. Venmo really needs to get their act together, their whole system feels like it runs on hope and duct tape half the time. A three day hold on something called "instant" is just plain false advertising. I feel for your buddy, that's a real pain to deal with.
