Rant: I thought the new app update was a bug, but it's actually a 'feature'

Our team's project management app rolled out a redesign last month that moved the 'submit report' button to a hidden menu, adding three extra clicks. The support ticket I opened got a reply saying 'this is an intentional change to streamline the workflow.' Has anyone else had a 'fix' that actually made a simple task way harder, and how did you get your team to adapt?

Ugh, that's the worst kind of update. What really gets me is calling it "streamlined" when it clearly adds more steps. Did they give any actual reason, like data showing people were submitting reports by mistake before? I'm always suspicious when a change makes the basic task harder but they frame it as an improvement.

Read an article last week that called this the "simplification paradox." Companies feel pressure to keep changing things to look active, so they rebrand a worse process as an upgrade. They rarely share real data because the reason is often internal, like trying to cut down on support calls by making users figure it out themselves. It's a frustrating pattern that treats users like they're the problem.
