Pro tip: that free 7 day trial for the photo editor cost me $79 and 3 hours of my life
I signed up for a free trial of a popular photo editing app back in April because I needed to resize some product shots for my small Etsy shop. The signup page said no credit card needed, so I clicked through fast without reading the tiny gray text at the bottom. Three days in, the app kept nagging me to add a payment method for cloud storage, and I finally gave in and typed in my card just to make the popup go away. Fast forward to last Thursday and I see a $79 charge hit my bank account, plus a second $12 charge I still can't explain. I tried to cancel through the app but the cancel button was buried under four screens of settings, and when I finally found it, the page loaded blank three times in a row. I had to call support and sit on hold for 3 hours just to get half of it refunded, and they still kept the $12. The real kicker is the editing tools were worse than the free app I already had on my phone. Has anyone else gotten trapped by a trial that hides the cancel button like this, and did you ever get your cash back?
