My mom's old recipe site made me rethink mobile menus

I was helping my mom find a pie recipe on her ancient blog last Sunday, and the drop down menu kept hiding every time she moved her mouse half an inch. She said, "Why does it run away from me?" and that hit different because she's 68 and not tech shy, she just expects things to stay put. It made me realize how many of us design for perfect mouse paths, not real people with shaky hands or touchpads. Has anyone else watched an older relative fight a hover menu and then redesigned their own site? I ended up switching mine to a simple always visible bar after that.
