My friend called me crazy for hating the 'pull to refresh' animation on my weather app

We were grabbing coffee in Chicago last Tuesday and I showed him how the little sun spins for a full 3 seconds before updating. He said 'It's cute, you're overthinking it.' I think any animation that makes you WAIT without a clear reason is bad design. What's a weather app you use that just shows the info fast?

Pull to refresh? The weather on my screen is basically a historical document at this point. It's more of a suggestion than a forecast, really. Sometimes I just stare at it and hope my willpower changes the temperature. Honestly, opening the window seems like a more reliable system.
