Just realized the submit button on our sign-up form used to sit 40 pixels lower, and that one change tripled our sign-ups
I was digging through old screenshots of our app from two years ago and noticed the submit button used to sit way down at the bottom of the form, below three optional fields almost nobody filled in. Back in March our designer moved it up right under the email and password boxes, and guess what, sign-ups jumped from about 12 a day to 36. Nobody said a word about it, no meeting, no ticket, she just did it on a Tuesday. The crazy part is we spent six months blaming our ad copy when the real problem was people never scrolling far enough to find the button. I showed the before and after to my boss yesterday and he just stared at it for a solid minute. Has anyone else found a fix this dumb simple hiding in their own product for years?
