Hot take: the self checkout at my grocery store yelled at me for scanning too fast, so I just left
Went to the Kroger on 5th Ave here in Columbus on Tuesday night, grabbed like 12 items, and started scanning. The machine kept flashing red and saying "unexpected item in bagging area" even though I put everything in the exact spot it showed. I scanned one more thing and it locked up completely, flashing "please wait for attendant" for about 3 minutes while a line built up behind me. An employee finally came over, sighed, and said "it does that, just scan slower" like I was the problem. Why do these things treat normal scanning speed like a crime, and does anyone know a store chain where the self checkout actually works without babysitting?
