Hot take: a tester at my old job said "click everything twice before you ship" and I ignored him for a year
Back in 2022 I shipped a checkout button that did nothing on double tap, and a guy named Dave on the QA team had warned me about it in a 10 minute meeting. He said double clicks on slow connections cause the app to fire the action twice and lock the screen, and I thought he was just being paranoid about edge cases. Now I test every button twice out of habit, so what's the weirdest piece of advice from a tester that actually turned out to be right?
That line about "double clicks on slow connections" hits home. Had a login form in 2021 where the submit fired twice and made a duplicate account, took weeks to figure out why. Now I test stuff on 3G throttling before it goes out, every time. Slow networks show you bugs fast wifi hides.
