Took me three tries to figure out why my logo looked off on business cards

I was printing 500 cards for a client in Austin and kept seeing the logo blurry until I realized the original was saved at 72 dpi instead of 300 dpi. Has anyone else had a print job go wrong because of resolution in your own files?

Oh man, 72 dpi strikes again. Just a small heads up though, even 300 dpi can sometimes look soft if the file size itself is too small - you gotta check the ACTUAL pixel dimensions too. Hope the client didn't give you too much grief over it.

Did you try scaling the image down in Photoshop before placing it in the layout? I always resize my 72 dpi logos to actual print size at 300 dpi and then check the pixel count, because if the original is like 200x200 pixels at 72 dpi it'll still look jagged no matter what. Another trick is to save your final print file as a PDF/X-1a, which forces the resolution check. That client in Austin probably wasnt happy but at least you caught it before the full run went to press.
