Talked to a sign painter about why my logo felt flat
Ran into an old sign painter at a diner in Tulsa last Tuesday. He said my logo looked like it was designed on a computer, because every line had the same weight. Asked him to point out the exact spot, and suddenly I saw how boring it was.

Used to think computer-made logos were the cleanest looking ones but this totally flips that around. Made me realize there's a whole art to how line weight changes the feel of a design.

Wait, are you talking about the weight difference between actual hand-drawn lettering versus computer bezier curves? Cause those old sign painters used to adjust thickness by eye to trick your brain into seeing things as perfectly straight.
