Paid $45 for a logo critique from a stranger, best money I spent

My own logo for my freelance side gig was stuck in a rut. I kept picking fonts that looked good alone but clashed together. Saw someone on here offer paid feedback, so I sent over my file and got a 20 minute call. They pointed out my kerning was a mess on the tagline and suggested I drop the drop shadow. Has anyone else tried paying for outside feedback like this or did you just keep asking friends?
