I thought paying $500 for a pro logo was a scam until a freelancer showed me how much research goes into it

What turned the tide for me was when she explained how she studied my competitors and target audience for two weeks before even sketching anything, but does that level of detail actually matter for a small local business or is it just overkill for most of us?

Started noticing something weird with my local bakery after they paid for that kind of research. The freelancer dug into the neighborhood demographics and found out most of their customers were moms with young kids who wanted quick grab-and-go options, not fancy sit-down pastries. So the logo ended up being this bright, simple design with a stroller friendly tagline that actually got people stopping in more often. For a small business, that extra homework can mean the difference between blending in and actually connecting with the people already walking past your door.

Oh, that's a good point about the stroller friendly tagline! But just a quick note - a logo can't really "have" a tagline, the tagline is separate branding that goes with the logo, not part of it.

Uma, did the bakery start selling those mini croissants for kids too?
