Why I stopped taking cold leads cold and switched to a 3 email warmup

I was fed up with wasting money on cold outreach that got maybe 1 reply per 100 emails. So I started sending 3 short value emails before ever pitching anything - tips, stats, or a quick case study about a problem they might have. Last month, my reply rate jumped to 12% and I booked 4 calls from 150 contacts in Denver. Has anyone else tried this kind of pre-pitch sequence or do you just blast offers from the start?

Three warmup emails sounds like you're just adding more junk to people's inboxes before the real pitch.

150 contacts in Denver, man that's a specific market test. @pipergonzalez I gotta say, I get the inbox junk worry, but tbh I've been doing something similar with my own cold emails and the difference is night and day. Honestly my first two emails are just a quick stat or a one-liner about a problem I know they face, nothing pushy. Ngl the third one is where I might toss out a case study, and by then they actually open it instead of hitting delete. Maybe it's extra emails, but if one real conversation comes from it, beats 100 ignored blasts any day.
