Unpopular opinion: Outsourcing content writing was a mistake at first but now it works

Started my agency in 2019 and hired a cheap writer for $15 per article. Every piece needed heavy editing and I lost money on it. Gave up for two years and wrote everything myself. Then I tried a specialist writer at $100 per piece who actually knew SEO and our niche. First article got 50% more traffic than anything I wrote alone. Was it the price difference or just finding the right person? Anyone else have a service they swore off and then gave a second chance with better results?
