Serious question, is niching down actually right for agencies or did I just get lucky with one industry?
Two years ago I dropped every client outside dental offices and revenue went from $4k to $19k a month by month 7, but a friend in Cincinnati tried the same thing with restaurants and nearly closed shop. So which is it, does focus always win or does it just depend on the niche?
You said "revenue went from $4k to $19k a month by month 7" but you left out the part that matters most, which is how you actually landed those dental clients in the first place. Did you already have a couple in your roster before you went all in, or did you cold call your way into that space from zero? Because that changes the whole story. Your friend in Cincinnati probably picked restaurants because it felt easy or fun, not because he had a real edge or a way in. Dental has money, steady demand, and owners who hate dealing with tech stuff, while restaurants run on thin margins and change owners every other year. So the real question isn't whether focus wins, it's whether you picked a niche where the buyers can pay and stick around. What made you pick dental over everything else?
