Had a chat with a 19-year-old intern that totally flipped my billing approach

She asked why I charge by the hour when the real value is in the result, not the time. Now I'm testing flat-rate packages for website maintenance, and my July revenue jumped 30% compared to hourly billing. Has anyone else switched models and seen a real difference?

Nah, hourly keeps clients honest about scope creep lol.

I mean I get that argument but honestly scope creep is a two way street. When Im on hourly I feel like Im constantly second guessing myself about whether this little tweak counts as a new task or just part of the original project. And clients feel that too, they get nervous asking for small changes because they think Im gonna nickel and dime them. Fixed price makes it cleaner, we both know exactly what we're getting into from the start. Plus if I finish early nobody's mad about it.
