Fired our biggest retainer account 5 months ago and our profit went up
For 2 years I took on every account that walked in, including a $9,500/month one that ate 60% of my team's time. A fellow owner in Columbus asked me one simple question over coffee: what does that account actually pay you per hour? I did the math that night and it came out to about $28/hr after rework and meetings, so we gave notice the next week. Curious if other folks here have a rule for when a big account is actually dragging you down.
