Someone at the cafe sketch group used salt for texture while the paper was still dripping

We were all doing quick watercolor studies, and this person sprinkled salt on a super wet wash. A few artists loved the bold effect, but others whispered it was a waste of good paper. Do you speak up about technique choices in casual paint gatherings, or just let it slide?

Seriously, experimenting is never a waste of good paper.

At a local workshop last year, the teacher told us to use salt on really wet paper. Avery_sanchez63 is right that trying new stuff isn't a waste. But what gets me is how salt patterns can't be fully controlled, so it teaches you to roll with happy accidents. In casual groups, pointing out techniques might shut down someone's creative flow, even if it seems weird. Sometimes the best art comes from breaking the rules, lol.
