TIL my armchair was eating my microphone sound
On a team video call, everyone said I sounded like I was in a tunnel. I messed with all my audio settings for like twenty minutes. Then I saw the big fluffy armchair right by my desk. I guess it was soaking up all the noise from my mic. I pushed it into the corner and my voice came back clear. Felt pretty dumb for not thinking of it earlier. Now I always scan my room before hopping on calls.

My old laptop had this weird echo during Zoom calls. I spent ages tweaking the settings, even bought a new mic. Then I noticed the thick curtains behind me were swallowing the sound. Moved them to the side and suddenly my voice was clear. It's crazy how room stuff messes with audio.

@sandra146, it's wild that thick curtains were swallowing your sound. I always thought echoes came from hard surfaces, not soft things like fabric. It never occurred to me that room decor could have such a big effect on audio. Now I'm paranoid about what's behind me during calls. Audio setup is way more about the room than I ever knew.

Now I'm staring at my own walls.
