Working on a system yesterday showed me why max airflow isn't for every home

I notice many technicians always push for the highest fan speed during tune-ups. However, in my view, this can create comfort issues, especially with humidity control. For example, in older homes with leaky ducts, too much airflow might spread dust and not cool evenly. I believe we should test static pressure and room temps before cranking things up.

Found balancing airflow fixed hot spots in older houses.

Yeah, figuring out the dampers is half the battle. I used colored stickers to remember which ones to leave alone. Saved my sanity during the next season change, lmao.

My 1987 ranch house had one room that stayed 15 degrees hotter until I messed with the register dampers. Sure, @kimc49, "balancing airflow" is the nice term for it. I called it a two hour swear fest where I crawled around guessing which vent to close. Felt like a wizard when the temperature actually evened out, though. Old houses just want to fight you.
