Check the DATES and locations on those letters, historians sometimes miss the small personal stuff that explains everything. My grandma's diary made NO sense until we matched her entries to old church records.

So, what other everyday records can we check against each other? Things like school lists or store receipts often have dates and names that get missed. Putting those small bits together can explain so much.

Pull up old city maps alongside those letters. It showed why my great-grandmother mentioned walking 'across the river' so often.
