After too many rolled ankles, I don't agree with the 'fast hike' trend anymore.

I mean, going slow on rough paths just feels safer to avoid getting hurt.

I used to be all about speed hiking and thought slowpokes were missing the point. Then I took a bad fall on a rocky descent and messed up my knee for weeks. That experience totally shifted my view, and now I focus on footing over pace. The extra time is worth it to finish the hike without pain.

Your focus on footing over pace really hits home. My friend skipped that and took a nasty spill, winding up with a sprained wrist that bothered him for months.
