My shooting range lead waste has me stuck for green ideas
I clean the bullet traps at my range every few weeks. The lead scraps and dust make me think about soil pollution. I looked into sending it off for recycling, but the price is high. Has anyone found a cheaper way to handle this? I want to keep things clean without spending too much cash.

Last spring, a range owner I know in Kentucky started mixing his lead dust with kitty litter before bagging it. He said it stabilizes the waste and some recyclers accept it for less because it's less messy... He ended up saving about forty percent on fees. You could look into that method or see if any local shops want clean lead for weights or balancing. It takes some calling around, but finding a use for it close by beats shipping costs.
