My current project has me stuck on whether to hand rub or spray the top coat.

I'm finishing a walnut table and want a tough satin look. Some pals say hand rubbing lets you feel the work, but others say spraying is quick and flat. What's your go-to for nice pieces?

Honestly, my hands are so clumsy I'd probably rub the finish right off. Spraying is way more reliable for that flat, tough satin you want. It saves time and hides my lack of skill, which is a win in my book.

For that satin look on walnut, I hand rub with 0000 steel wool and paste wax. It takes more time but gives you way more control over the final sheen.
