Appreciation post: Paper invoices keep my freelance business alive, despite eco-trends
I hear all the talk about digital billing being greener, but I don't buy it. My clients in construction often need physical copies for their records, and digital files get lost. I use recycled paper and carbon-neutral shipping, so it's not all bad. This old-school method has kept me from facing payment delays more than once.

Wait, carbon-neutral shipping for paper invoices? That has to cost a fortune. You're paying extra to mail paper in a green way, which just proves the whole digital system is broken if you need to do that. The fact you have to go that far to make it work is kind of wild.

But have you found that need for a physical copy is actually about legal record-keeping rules, or is it just their personal habit (like a safety blanket)? I ask because some fields have strict rules on paper trails that digital just can't meet yet, which would totally justify your system.

Spot the weird overlap where both things are true. The rules force the habit until the habit feels like the rule itself, you know? That's why their system feels so locked in place.
