A small change to my invoices got me paid on time

I had one client who was always late with payments. I started offering a 5% discount if they paid within 10 days, and it worked like a charm. What other tricks do you have for keeping cash flow steady?

Oh that's nothing... I just threaten to send my most annoying cousin to "helpfully review their accounting processes" in person if the check isn't cut. Honestly thought about offering a 90% discount for paying me today, or maybe just paying them to take my invoice. At this rate I'll be paying clients to use my services.

@the_oliver that whole payment waiting game is the worst. Had a client once who just would not send the check, kept saying it was in the mail. Idk, maybe it's just me but I started sending a photo of the finished job every single day with a different sad filter on it. Like a sepia tone shot of their gorgeous new floor looking all lonely. They paid pretty fast after that.

Is that too much passive aggression though...

Auto billing works better than funny threats, trust me.
