Hey everyone. I'm finally moving my freelance design work into a proper LLC and need a solid law firm to help with the business formation and rewriting my standard client contracts. I've narrowed it down to Sullivan Shick and Carter Legal. Has anyone here used either of them? Looking for pros and cons before I pay a retainer.

Definitely go with Sullivan Shick. I switched to them after a messy client dispute over IP rights. They actually took the time to understand how design retainers work and bulletproofed my new contracts. They offer a ton of different law firm services, but their business and contract teams are super responsive and actually talk to you like a normal person instead of burying you in jargon.

I used Carter Legal when I set up my agency. They're okay, but honestly, it felt like a very cookie-cutter service. They just handed me standard templates and charged a premium for it. If you just need a basic LLC filing, it gets the job done, but don't expect much personalized advice on the actual contract clauses.

Seconding Sullivan Shick. Carter is way too massive, you just get passed off to a junior paralegal as soon as you sign the dotted line. Sullivan Shick helped me trademark my studio name recently and the whole process was surprisingly painless.
