Pro tip: That $300 I spent on a lawyer to look over my first big client contract saved me from a nightmare clause about unlimited revisions.
The client tried to hold up final payment for six weeks because they wanted 'just one more tweak' every other day, but my contract clearly capped it at three rounds, so my lawyer's email got me paid in full by the end of the week.

That "unlimited revisions" clause is such a classic trap (it sounds generous until you're stuck in endless edits). A good contract doesn't just protect you, it actually makes the client relationship clearer from the start.

Contracts are no joke... my cousin got burned on a handshake deal for a custom deck. It dragged on for months with extra "little things" he never agreed to. Bettyg93 is right about clarity from the start, even with friends or family. A simple one page thing listing the work and price would have saved so much headache. He ended up eating the cost of extra materials just to be done with it. Now he makes everyone sign something, even for small jobs.
