Spent $400 on a new respirator filter system and it's a total game changer
My old cartridges were fogging my face shield constantly, and I was getting headaches by lunch. The new PAPR unit keeps everything clear and cool, even during a long iron pour. Anyone have tips on keeping the battery pack clean from core room dust?

Yeah, referencing "A simple tool belt pouch might keep the dust off" - that's EXACTLY what I do. I run a 3M Versaflo and the belt clip is a lifesaver. The weight isn't bad as long as you center it on your hip, not your spine. What really works for me is using a small canvas tool pouch that zips shut, then wiping the whole battery down with a dry rag at lunch. The dust from core room sand is so fine it'll get into any open zipper. Also, I keep a spare battery in a ziploc bag in my lunchbox, that keeps it clean and protected from the heat.

How do you like the weight of the battery pack? I've heard some units can feel a bit clunky after a full shift. A simple tool belt pouch might keep the dust off without adding too much bulk.

Wait, a tool belt pouch? You're carrying the whole battery pack on your belt? That sounds wild to me. I just keep mine in the unit's back slot, so the weight sits against my back evenly. Strapping a brick to your hip all day seems like a sure way to end up with a sore side. I can't imagine choosing that over the built-in carry system.
