Rant: I keep seeing guys skip the full pre-heat on the core boxes
This is a real problem at my shop in Toledo. People think if the box feels warm, it's good to go, but that's wrong. I've seen three jobs in the last two weeks where the cores cracked because the box temp was off by just 50 degrees. The binder doesn't set right, and you get a weak spot that ruins the whole pour. I learned this the hard way on a big gear housing run last year. Now I use my infrared gun every single time, no matter what. It takes an extra minute, but it saves hours of rework. How do you guys make sure your core boxes are truly up to temp?

What about marking the gun with a bright sticker?

A bright sticker seems easy to remove. What specific material or process would make it permanent enough to survive regular handling and cleaning?
