Been ramming sand by hand for 15 years, then a temp from the Toledo plant showed me his trick.
He just used a short piece of 2-inch pipe as a sleeve over the rammer handle for extra weight. I always thought more muscle was the only way to get a tight mold. Now I'm thinking maybe we rely too much on old habits instead of simple tools. What's a small trick you learned that made a big job easier?

That line about relying on old habits instead of simple tools really hit me. I used to fight with a stuck floor jack for years, getting mad and kicking it. Then a guy at a gas station saw me and told me to just tap the release valve with a hammer handle instead of pushing the lever. One light tap and it drops right down. It's crazy how you can do something the hard way forever just because no one shows you the easy way.

Wait, so you spent years kicking a floor jack like it owed you money? I'm trying to picture that scene at the gas station, @james_butler. It's funny how the simplest fix is always the last thing we try. Makes you wonder what else we're all doing the hard way right now without realizing it.
