Watching a documentary on old signs made me see font pairing differently
I was watching a show about vintage Las Vegas signs last night. They kept showing a big, flashy script font next to a plain, blocky one on the same sign. It hit me that those old sign painters were MASTERING contrast for readability from far away. I've been overthinking my web projects, trying to match fonts that are too similar. Now I'm looking for one loud display font and one quiet, simple one for body text. What's a really bold script font you like to pair with something super basic like Helvetica?

Those old sign painters clearly never wasted hours doomscrolling through Google Fonts (lucky them).

Disagree honestly, I feel like picking from a million fonts can be just as hard. They had to know their few styles inside and out, which seems harder in a way. Maybe it's just me but that feels like more skill.
